A 30-Day Business Transformation. Challenge Accepted!

So here’s the thing… Not long ago, I started an Internet marketing business. I was tired of working for someone else and working on fulfilling their dream. I was also tired of being tied to someone else’s schedule.

There are several other reasons why I launched my own internet-based business, but that is for another post.

In THIS post I am going to tell you why I have joined hundreds of people in challenging myself to transform my business from something that is honestly, “just ok,” into something awesome! A business that will be sustainable for the long-haul and that will allow me to eventually quit my “day job” and will become my new stand-alone career.

First, Some Backstory…

I’m planning on being in this business for a long time. So I thought it would be best to start by setting up my “back office.” I talked to accountants… I created an LLC… created bank accounts for my business… tax ID numbers… all the stuff a business eventually needs.

Next, to create brand awareness, I set up social media accounts on all the popular sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc). I set up a WordPress blog. You might be reading this article there as we speak.

I used all the above to do some promoting of different products and services. There were a few posts here and there and I posted a few videos. However, my efforts were sporadic at best; mostly because I didn’t really know what I was doing.

I wouldn’t say any of that was a waste of time; but it kind of was a waste of time. I was trying to do too many things at once, and not really getting anything done.

So naturally, it was time for me to buckle down and learn the proper way to establish an online business.

Getting Educated

If you’ve ever done an internet search on learning how to market on the internet, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about here. There are hundreds of education and training programs out there regarding internet marketing. There is NO shortage of learning materials out there.

So after a LOT of research I settled into two different education platforms that suited me and what I wanted to accomplish. (I’ll share my preferred platform later in this post). And then I dug in and really began to train.

And train… and train….

Stuck In a Rut

The training I was receiving was incredible! I quickly discovered that I should have started here all along. I couldn’t absorb the training fast enough.

Meanwhile, there was still virtually no revenue coming in. I had become stuck in training mode. It was safe there. It was comfortable there.

“Don’t be upset by the results you don’t get with the work you didn’t do.”

Now please hear this… Education in how to properly run an online business is crucial. But there comes a time when a person has to take what they have learned and actually apply it. Learn something, then go do that thing; and repeat.

That is where the fears and the doubts creep in.

“I haven’t been in this field long enough for anyone to listen to what I have to say.”

“What if no one likes my posts and videos?”

“What if no one even sees my posts and videos?”

Quite frankly… I was comfortable in training mode and procrastinating.

Procrastinating from what you ask??? I was only delaying creating online content for my business…period.

Content Is KING!

In the online marketing space, your unique content is everything!

As a marketer, you need to be creating valuable content frequently. Regardless of the method you chose (paid or free), you need to create.

Busting OUT!

So earlier I mentioned a challenge that I had accepted.

I also told you earlier that I would share my preferred education platform. That platform just happens to be Legendary Marketer.

I’ll talk more about Legendary in just a moment…but the reason I mention them is they have given their community a challenge.

It’s basically a 30-day content creation bootcamp, which is exactly what it sounds like. They’re challenging the community to make a blog post or post a video every day for 30 days.

There are two main reasons I accepted this challenge.

Reason #1 (the obvious reason)

To ramp up my consistency in creating content.

As I mentioned earlier, consistent creation of helpful content is vital. Not only is it important for solving people’s problems, it’s necessary for establishing and solidifying your brand.

One of the purposes of a challenge such as this is to hold each other accountable to posting consistently.

Reason #2.

To create new habits

As a self-employed…work from home…online entrepreneur, it’s up to me and only me to get things done.

Time management is the key to success in this area. This type of challenge has forced me to create new habits to better manage my time effectively.

There have been hundreds of books written about time management, so I won’t dive into specifics about that here. Perhaps in another post I will share my specific techniques for managing my time.

One thing is for certain though, after 30 days, new habits will be formed and much content will be created.

And because of that, I am excited and focused!
